Kickboxing is a generic term for a sporting martial art that, while similar to boxing, uses the feet as well as the hands for striking. Kickboxing can be practiced for general fitness, or as a full-contact combat sport. Kickboxing (Full Contact Karate) developed in the USA in the 1970s where martial artists such as Joe Lewis, Bill 'Superfoot' Wallace and Benny 'the Jet 'Urquidez pioneered the sport.

Modern Kickboxing now incorporates techniques from Muay Thai, Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu and western boxing. Kickboxing in its nature is always adapting and incorporates a wide range of techniques from different styles.
